#1 in my series of what climate change means.
As temperatures rise, it affects crop yields. Staple crops such as wheat and maize have optimal temperatures for growth, and an increase in temperatures can result in reduced productivity.
Climate change changes weather patterns, which also means increased rainfall, and flooding can lead to food shortages.
Soil degradation is also significant because it reduces the ability for the plants to produce food sustainably.
We can combat these problems which adaptation strategies toward this issue by putting climate-proof agriculture practices such as sustainable water management practices, crop diversification etc.
