We have already exceeded the limit and according to a renowned climate scientist James Hansen says that we significantly underestimated warming.
2024 marked the 12-month period in which we exceeded this benchmark of 1.5 C. This was boosted by many factors such as El Nino bringing more chance of climate disruptions and extreme weather events.
