Is it a scam, or a viable solution to remove the biggest contributor to climate change.

C02, or carbon dioxide is emitted from the burning of fossil fuels, which is the primary contributor to climate change.

Let’s first look at the downsides of carbon capture: It expensive, and it promotes the thought that we can keep fossil fuels, which we obviously can’t. In fact, fossil fuels companies are in favor of CCS because it a tactic to delay climate action. It also is expensive and there is no evidence that costs have gone down.

ExxonMobile wanted to move forward with the idea of carbon capture. For reference, ExxonMobile is a leader in climate denial and has pushed back many of its plan for reducing emissions. They also are found guilty of greenwashing, or making something seem eco-friendly, but in reality, it isn’t. If carbon capture is being promoted by an oil company that has led in denying climate change, that is not a good sign.
